The Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) collaborated with “Paguyuban Isteri Karyawan dan Warakawuri Kementerian ESDM” and “Yayasan Kanker Payudara Indonesia” to hold a breast cancer awareness event and mammography check up. Mammography is a process of examining human breasts using low-dose X-rays, generally around 0.7mSv. It is used to identify several types of tumors and cysts.
The event was held on Monday, 15 April 2019 at PYC. This event aimed to educate women on breast cancer and encourage them to do an initial examination. The speaker, Dr. Martha, said that there were a lot of women who were still afraid to carry out an initial examination so that when they were treated, they were mostly at an advanced stage. If breast cancer is identified earlier, the possibility of recovery is 98%. For this reason, it is advised that women who are 40 years old should carry out mammography check up.
The mammography check up process began with filling in the patient’s data and medical history. Then, the patient went on consulting with the doctor and did the mammography check up on a large bus parked in front of PYC. The results came out approximately two weeks after the examination. The mammography check up was attended by members of the PIPW, staffs and invitees from PYC, the wives of TNI members, and staffs from “Kelurahan Melawai”.
