On October 18, 2019, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, the founder of the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC), was invited to deliver his vision about leadership. The presentation was delivered during the opening session of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Indonesia conference at PO Hotel Kota Semarang. The conference was attended by sixty participants from various regions in Indonesia. The President of JCI International, Alexander Tio, also attended the conference.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Indonesia is a national non-political and non-sectarian youth organization, and part of the largest international youth organization in the world affiliated to the United Nations, Junior Chamber International. This organization is a global community between the ages of 18 and 40 with the intent and purpose of creating positive change throughout the world.

During the opening sessions, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro shared his experiences and visions on being a leader in every condition, especially when he became the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in 2000-2009 and Minister of Defense in 2010-2014.

Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro also highlighted the concept of leadership in Indonesia. Three mottos that were taught by Ki Hajar Dewantara, namely: “Ing Ngarsa Sung Tulodho” which means the leader in the front, becomes the role model to all its members. Second motto is “Ing Madya Mangun Karsa” which means the leader in the middle must creating ideas and initiatives. Then, the last, “Tut Wuri Handayani”, means the leader must encourage and give direction to the members.
